You could sense the excitement across the city that morning....it seemed like everyone who was on the streets on a Saturday morning all had one & only destination- H&M on the Kalverstraat. I could hear the masses from the corner of Kalverstraat...of course as I made the turn I saw a queue and this was 8
am (2hrs before the opening). Bracelets indeed where give out with
specified time, so was a free Grazia magazine (which had a 2 page spread about the Jimmy Choo collection) so that customers can flip through the collection once more before they enter and decide what else to buy (smart marketing move). Also blond girls in black where spoiling people with champagne....but all the fun ended when it began to pour rain from the grey dutch sky. H&M loves its customers though- so they all were given free umbrellas...I must say it was cozy for about a minute or two, but then at 10 o'clock sudden movement began, people where pushing through the doors and it seemed chaotic .....you could see the people who were in front of the line brought mattresses and pillows (like to a Madonna concert). Apparently those crazy fans came at 4 am!!! ( no comment)Once you are inside, its all up to your speed of hands if they can grab fast what you want. In the end, you realize that maybe there is no need to be at the doors at 4 am (those poor people!), since the dresses, the jumpsuits, the glittery jackets where still hanging and of course H&M wants to make money- so they got plenty in stock, please do remember that :)
Everything was civil, we all got what we wanted- which makes the experience easy and worth it.
I had fun!!- thank you to the wonderfull ladies who shared this with me.
See you soon in the next adventure which Sonia Rykiel will bring.
